500 Catholic Youth from Brooklyn and Queens Attend Brooklyn Catholic Youth Day

Continuing outreach and evangelization of Catholic youth in Brooklyn and Queens, the Catholic Youth Ministry Initiative held the second of three youth days for the Diocese of Brooklyn in the pastoral year on January 21st for 500 junior and high school-aged youth, their chaperones and youth ministers.

Mass was celebrated by Auxiliary Bishop Paul Sanchez. Concelebrants included Msgr. Steven Aguggia, Fr. Ralph Edel and Deacon Phil Franco. Our servers were from Our Lady of Mercy in Forest Hills, Our Lady Queen of Martyrs in Forest Hills, St. Margaret in Middle Village and Cathedral Preparatory Seminary in Flushing.

The keynote speaker for event was Colin Nykaza, Director of the Office of Young Adult Outreach for the Archdiocese of New York. Nykaza discussed respect life issues in light of the March for Life.

David James, youth minister at St. Margaret, served as the emcee. Music was provided by The Jornada Music Ministry, as they led the warm up music and music for the mass and the adoration. The Catholic Scholars from St. John’s University in Jamaica, also helped with various aspects of the day including liturgy, set up, clean-up and handing out gift bags and lunches.
